We’re both back-to-school. Me as the secretary for two-hundered and fifty some elementary & junior high students– and Justin as a third year seminary student. Returning to a structured schedule and looking forward to the smell of pumpkin pie is starting to settle in. I do so enjoy changing seasons of both time & life.

Even though this has now become a reality, we’re still enjoying the outdoors & date night is a great excuse to get out and see our local surroundings. This evening, Justin & I visited the nearby Farmer’s Market and found a quaint store with all sorts of antique cookbooks. Our favorite part of the night was buying fresh tamales & enjoying them on a park bench while the sun began to set. I cherish each opportunity to embrace a new moment with my love– no matter how seemingly simple :)

Yesterday we rejoiced in the past three wonderful years the Lord has blessed us with. So hard to believe how quickly the days go by. Justin surprised me by delivering red roses to my desk at work. They were waiting for me along with a sweet note when I returned from a meeting- red roses remind me of the day we got engaged :) We enjoyed dinner out, a stop by the mall to take fun pics in a photo booth, & a movie at home complete with ice cream.

Thank you Lord for my husband.

Sometimes when I see him come through the front door as he returns home from work, or wake up next to him on a sunny day, or watch the excitement on his face when I cook him something as simple as spaghetti, I’m reminded of the completley undeserved gift Justin is. It’s in those moments that I’m daily in awe of how my Heavenly Father has given me more than all I could have asked or imagined.

Here are some of the photos we took on our vacation last month. It was wonderful being able to spend time with Rebecca making memories together. I’m always surprised at how much there is to see in just this one state. I’ve definitely missed the mountains and the forests of northern California since I moved south. Rebecca and I traveled to Yosemite and Sequoia and then across the central valley to the coast. Now I’m not one of those people who feels that norCal and soCal should be separate states, but the difference between them is pretty striking (geographically anyway). If anyone living in (or visiting) California has yet to see Yosemite, you really need to go; it is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been.

We had such a fabulous vacation! I’m thankful for the sweet time away with my husband. What made it most special, was celebrating how the Lord has so richly blessed us over these past two years since we committed our lives to each other.

Our travels took us to Yosemite, Sequoia, and King’s Canyon National Parks– and then on to Carpinteria to soak up some sun, hand-in-hand. Justin surprised me with each new destination of our trip, and did an excellent job of it… I didn’t have a clue.

Being married to my best friend is truly a gift more than I could have ever asked, or even imagined. The Lord is so gracious! Lord willing, I look forward to many more years of growing closer to each other and our Savior.

During the trip, someone asked Justin if we were on our honeymoon and he answered, “well our third one actually” (adding up our honeymoon + 2 anniversaries). That summed up our time together quite well :)

In January we moved. We’re really enjoying our new place & being closer to siblings. Having a dishwasher has definitely been a highlight too :)

When we were packing though, I realized that I was having mixed feelings. I was sad to leave the first apartment that we lived in after Justin and I were married. It was sad to imagine not having the same view of the hillside out the window, the familiar sounds of children playing in the park below, or even the quirky things that we had come to love about our little home.

It was a good reminder that Christ is my home. I love Ephesians 3 where it talks about, “Christ who is your life.” Although things around me change, often quickly, He stays the same.

I’ve always liked red front doors :) Yay for dishwashers.

Justin and I were blessed with an amazing summer. We relaxed, visited our families in northern California, went down memory lane in Walla Walla, saw friends in Seattle and Santa Cruz, stayed with family in Oregon, and continued to grow more in love with each other. I enjoyed the hot sun, spending time with the Lord, trips to Starbucks for a java chip, flip flops, lazy afternoons spent close to our air conditioner, splashing in the pool, making smoothies, and hangin’ out with friends and family. Although it’s sad to see it come to a close, we look with great anticipation to all the Lord has for us; both with the change of season, and start of our time in Seminary.
