We’re both back-to-school. Me as the secretary for two-hundered and fifty some elementary & junior high students– and Justin as a third year seminary student. Returning to a structured schedule and looking forward to the smell of pumpkin pie is starting to settle in. I do so enjoy changing seasons of both time & life.

Even though this has now become a reality, we’re still enjoying the outdoors & date night is a great excuse to get out and see our local surroundings. This evening, Justin & I visited the nearby Farmer’s Market and found a quaint store with all sorts of antique cookbooks. Our favorite part of the night was buying fresh tamales & enjoying them on a park bench while the sun began to set. I cherish each opportunity to embrace a new moment with my love– no matter how seemingly simple :)

We’ve had a lovely end of the summer, and although I’m sad to see the days of flip-flops and smoothies end, it is exciting to have cooler weather and apple cider coming.

We enjoyed getting to attend the wedding of our friends Jimmy and Erin. It was a neat time of celebrating all the Lord has done in their lives and how He has brought them together.

We’ve also been so blessed to be helping with Discovery at our church on Sunday nights. It’s a program that has a teaching time, music, games and small groups at the end. It’s a joy to be a part of the student’s lives, get to know them better through the small group times, and to share the truths of Scripture with them.

My sister Kate is playing soccer for The Master’s College. Justin and I have been to one of her games and are looking forward to cheering on the Mustangs a couple more times in October. It’s exciting to have athletic siblings :)

Having lived in Southern California on and off for the better part of seven years, I feel that I have now become accustomed to the seasonal variations we experience here. This week we entered the southern Californian summer. It usually begins about this time and continues until October with a brief break in June. Definitely warm enough to make you not want (or have) to use the dryer.

It is nice to not have to take a coat to work or class. No matter what some people say, it is decidedly not warm here all the time. I’m not saying it snows or anything, but it’s fairly cool from December to March so it’s good to be warm again. Ask me again in July though. :)

The last couple days we were in Grass Valley in December, it snowed! I had hoped and hoped that it would… and as fun as it was, I must admit that I was ready to return to sunny so cal when our visit was over.

Justin and I were blessed with an amazing summer. We relaxed, visited our families in northern California, went down memory lane in Walla Walla, saw friends in Seattle and Santa Cruz, stayed with family in Oregon, and continued to grow more in love with each other. I enjoyed the hot sun, spending time with the Lord, trips to Starbucks for a java chip, flip flops, lazy afternoons spent close to our air conditioner, splashing in the pool, making smoothies, and hangin’ out with friends and family. Although it’s sad to see it come to a close, we look with great anticipation to all the Lord has for us; both with the change of season, and start of our time in Seminary.
